Data from Africa Is a Country and Prison Insider show that Kenya has a total of 108 prison institutions that were meant to host approximately 14,000 inmates but currently house over 50,000.
Prison congestion has been a significant challenge in Kenya’s penal system and has led to poor living conditions, increased tension among inmates and inadequate healthcare & rehabilitation services.
In line with our core value of Service to the Community, we donated 67 mattresses and two balls to inmates at G.K Prison Kitengela. We also gave the balls to enrich their co-curricular activities.
We also engaged the administration on the possibility of setting up a library as well as developing Programmes that will add value to the reforming process of the inmates.
